Through strategic partnerships, On A Silver Plate will be a leader in perishable food rescue, procurement, redistribution, and education in order to meet the nutritional needs of communities.
Our aim is to build a circular food system that ensures our food never creates waste.
Removing food waste by creating delicious meals for the community.
As a non-profit our mission is to minimise food waste and create a meaningful impact.
The idea is to collect all surplus and best before date chilled foods from supermarkets and food manufacturers and cook them and freeze.
We then distribute to food banks who usually distribute only tin foods. Also our food would be available to low income families and everybody else for a donation.
Our food rescue program fills the gap between potentially wasted food and the people and organizations that need food the most.

Supermarkets or stores provide chilled food that would have been classified as surplus or food waste due to best before dates.
Food picked up by On a Silver Plate in chilled vans and stored in the required facilities to ensure its longevity and freshness.
Food is transformed in our kitchens into delicious nutritious meals and then frozen to be delivered to communities at a later stage.
Food is distributed in sustainable, eco-friendly packaging through food banks, local agencies that receive food, as well as other food waste organisations.
While there are many provisions in place to reduce food waste, the UK produces the highest amount of food waste in Europe.
Over ⅓ of all food produced globally goes to waste. What is more, the UK throws away around 9.5 million tonnes of food waste in a single year – even though 8.4 million people in the UK are in food poverty.
UK’s largest supermarket chains throw away enough food for 190 million meals each year.
6.6 million tonnes of food, which represents over 70% of total wastage is from households.
Restaurants, alongside bars, and pubs, are clear contributors to food waste with 1.1 million tonnes of wastage.
Manufacturers also contribute their fair share of wastage, which is estimated to be 1.5 million tonnes.

On A Silver Plate is about making sure that what has be given to us is completely used with no waste. We look to use eco-friendly or biodegradable packaging for our frozen meals, either in reusable containers or with a bring back scheme to supply to the local community.
